How LFC came to be....

In the Gospel of St-Luke chapter 10, Jesus ordained seventy disciples commissioned and sent them out to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven. Warning them about the dangers they would face along the way. Encouraging them and giving them power to overcome every obstacle the devil would attack them with. (Luke chapter 10:25) As He gave them instruction, a lawyer stood up tempting Him with this question; Master what shall I do to inherit eternal life? In my Perry Mason voice, your honor, I don't see the relevance of the question being asked by Mr. Burger as it relates to my decision with my disciples, but if it pleases the court, I would like to indulge the question Jesus asked, What is written in the law? Then the lawyer replied saying; Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, strength and mind and thy neighbor as thyself.

Jesus gave an A+ for his answer and said do this and you shall live a blessed and prosperous life. Then his B-U-T showed up, willing to justify himself, he replied; who is my neighbor? (Luke chapter 30:37) Jesus gives the parable of the Good Samaritan. He told of a man going from Jerusalem to Jericho, being attacked by thugs, who robbed, stripped and beat him leaving him half-dead! A preacher, on his way to Sunday morning worship, saw the man and kept on pushing on. The deacon, chairman of board in charge of opening devotion was running a little late; saw the man and speed away. Then another B-U-T showed up. A Samaritan saw the man, went to him, and bandaged his wounds, pouring in oil and wine. The man was bleeding, but he ignored the blood, picked him up, put him in his car or on his donkey and took him to the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. (Bishop Burnett, Jr version

I believe this Samaritan had a dream and took care of him. Upon leaving, he paid the bill and gave the hotel clerk extra money to look after him, and If any other expenses would incur, he would reimburse him when he returned. Jesus asked the lawyer; which of these three, do you think was his neighbor? The lawyer replied, the one that touched the man and showed mercy. Jesus said "go and do likewise."

This year 2018, as we celebrate twenty years of "doing likewise", giving shelter, food, clothing, pouring in the oil and wine, we ask you to pray with us, stand with us, be supportive of the mission and ministry!

If I can help somebody as I travel along
If I can help somebody with a word or song
If I can help somebody from doing wrong
Then my living won’t be in vain

God bless you, In Jesus name!
